SOFT PORCELAIN
The Soft Porcelain series is an ode to textile traditions: monograms, brocade, and embroidery techniques, created by many anonymous women and passed down through generations.
Our work is a celebration of their artisanship and patient skills.
We focussed on embroidered monograms from textiles commemorating life events and carrying strong familial associations.
Many of the linens we use were originally part of wedding trousseaux, hand-embroidered by or for the bride. They carry not only technical skill, but personal meaning: emotional histories that we seek to preserve by the process of transformation into porcelain.
We work to honour both the original context of antique ceramic tableware and textiles presenting them as objects of beauty in their own right, giving them a new vocabulary.
The interplay of porcelain and textiles creates a compelling duality: delicate textures preserved, adding a softness to the hard ceramic forms.
Soft Porcelain to us is not only a technical achievement, but a clear example of how traditional materials and skills can be reinterpreted through design.
Each piece is cast by hand in our atelier in Amsterdam, using Mont Blanc porcelain, selected for its clarity and finesse.
